History

Kuala Lumpur City Academy, established in 1992 by Prof. Dato Dr Chin See Keat as Optopreneur College via distance learning institution in collaboration with the UK, registered with the Ministry of Education as an official institution in 2002. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, it was renamed Kuala Lumpur City College and is now known as Kuala Lumpur City Academy.

The academy offers a comprehensive educational experience with a focus on practical skills and industry readiness. Students benefit from a monthly allowance of RM1200 sponsored by the college, supplemented with an additional RM500 from government support, totaling RM1700 monthly for those participating in on-the-job training (OJT).

This financial support aims to alleviate the cost of living for students while providing them with valuable hands-on experience in their respective fields. The academy’s commitment to combining academic excellence with practical training ensures that graduates are well-prepared for the demands of the workforce.
